These awards are launched by the RTS to recognise outstanding achievement in the development of new technologies in video production, manipulation and distribution, and outstanding creativity in exploiting these developments in new forms of, and enhancement of, content.

The award categories are designed to emphasise the interdependence of content and technology in an expanding and changing world reaching out to new communities of users and new, often interactive, ways of communicating.

In 2007 the awards became the Innovation Awards to reflect changes in criteria. Consequently there were no awards presented in 2006.

Awards 2009

The RTS Innovation Awards 2009 were presented on Tuesday 10 November 2009 at Bafta,
