Alan Whiston, Technology Controller, BBC Vision, North and Nations
Alan owns the strategic relationship with BBC client division(s), drives technology innovation and the development of divisional technology strategies. Alongside Heads of Technology and the innovation teams he advises on all technology matters, bringing the most up to date and tested thinking to the table ensuring that technology is used as a driver for change and innovation. Alan was a professional photographer and spent time in live operations both studio and OB’s before moving into management roles in Reuters, BBC News and subsequently BBC Technology, Distribution & Archive.
Andy King, Head of Technology BBC Vision Productions
Andy is responsible for the management of the relationship between BBC Technology and Vision Productions, one of the largest content producers in the UK, covering Drama, Factual, Entertainment and Comedy. The role ensures that all technology requirements within the business are clearly understood by the technology teams and that technology solutions deliver functionality that allow programme makers to realise their creative goals. Additionally Andy leads the Acquisition Strategy Group, ensuring that acquisition technology is thought of in the context of the end to end programming chain.
Prior to this role Andy was the Technology Controller Resources Ltd., now BBC Studios and Post Production, a wholly owned commercial subsidiary of the BBC offering Studios, Post Production and Outside Broadcast facilities to BBC and non-BBC programme makers.
David Springall – CTO & Founder, Yospace
David is Chief Technology Officer and founder of Yospace, a content distribution innovator specialising in workflow and delivery for multi-screen streaming for non-linear, linear and live streaming. David has been responsible for the company’s technology platform and products, which include the first pixel accurate handset emulator for developers, an award winning user-generated community which was sold to Emap Consumer Media for £8.7 in 2007. David's main interests lie within exploring innovative uses of HTTP-based streaming technologies such as HLS and MPEG-DASH. Prior to Yospace, he consulted in the then emerging field of internet technologies to enterprises including British Telecom, Ericsson, Unilever, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, HM Customs & Excise, and Hitachi.
Peter White - Director General, IABM
Peter White has been Director General of the IABM since 2009, implementing and developing the association’s strategies and leading the secretariat team. Prior to IABM, he held the post of CEO at another non-profit association in the UK and was a tutor at the Leadership Trust.
Over the past 25 years, Peter has gained vast experience in both the commercial sector and non-profit sector holding roles as Managing Director and Chief Executive. Peter is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Tim Siddons – Sales Manager EMEA, Blackmagic Design
Qualified as a photographer. 15 years in the professional video and film industry with extensive experience in mission critical live production, post-production and broadcast from large OB event productions and vehicle systems integration design to customised Film and DI workflow implementations for some of the largest and most successful Post facilities in the industry. Previous responsibilities have included Region Manager for Quantel Broadcast and Post product groups, Sales and Business Development Manager for Gearhouse Broadcast and Sales Manager for Matrox EMEA.
Currently responsible for Blackmagic Design across 87 countries, including the Blackmagic, DaVinci, EchoLab and Teranex product brands.
