We also run a number of more focussed events and visits specifically for RTS members. To find out more click MEMBERS ONLY
The RTS is the only organisation in the UK that covers all aspects of Television.
We can help provide an awareness of the breadth of the visual media as well as opportunities to meet and discuss television with other members of the community.
London is the centre of British television with the headquarters of major broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel Four, Five, BSkyB, Disney, and Discovery Channels and over 200 Independent Production companies all supported by a large and dynamic freelance community.
London is also a global centre for television newsgathering with ITN, BBC News, Sky News and the news bureaux of all the US networks, European broadcasters and many others from around the world.
With so much of British television based in London it also has most of the legal and consultancy firms working in the field. These include, Linklaters, Farrar, Goodman Derrick, PWC, Deloitte, Accenture KPMG, Enders Analysis, Future Source and many others.
Non-broadcast television is also well represented including the well established and growing field of new media.
London is the home of Britain's greatest concentration of facilities houses and these, along with the technological excellence of BBC R&D and the technical teams of ATOS, Red Bee, Arqiva NDS, Technicolor, DTG and BT, employ many of the people who ensure that creativity can reach the screens reliably now and in the future.
Within our region there are twenty four Universities offering course for and about television and media. Students keen to make sense of television and the media are well represented at our events while RTS London rewards their creativity though our regional Student Awards. Interaction with younger members of the television community is very important and there are opportunities for us all to to learn from each other at the informal gatherings before and after our events.
With such a wide range of people already involved we invite anyone interested in Television to Join the RTS – As well as benefitting from all the up to date information and commentary in Television magazine, you'll also be able to help RTS London organise future activities to explain the ever changing world of Television to your friends and colleagues.
