Members only events

London contains  over one thousand members of the RTS
– who are working in or are associated with the world of Television.
dedicated to supporting the educational aims of the RTS

RTS London has decided to provide RTS  members some more focused opportunities to find out more about what is happening and what may happen in this thriving sector.

The RTS is the only organisation which covers all aspects of Television and many members and others appreciate the opportunities that the RTS gives to find out about other part of the television production process – and awareness which enhances the making of Television – programmes, technology, system and law and public policy.

If you want to join the RTS  apply here  or as student  member for £10 a year

In October -  almost 40 members  visited to BSKY B energy efficient production facility Sky Studios
The vist which showed  the whole of the production chain – the studios on the ground floor, post work in the middle to play out transmission at the top, started with a demonstration of S3D and ended with a drink and a chance to talk and ask more questions about this marvelous new working environment.
RTS London thanks Troy Smith and Chris Johns and their teams for an amazing evening.

November brought  the 75th anniversary of the launch of the world's first High Definition TV service
Over 20 members looked at the HD studios of BBC  Studio and Post Production at Television Centre - a tour of three studios, hands on a S3D Rig and lots of questions and discussion on systems, production techniques and future of studio productions.
RTS London thanks Danny Popkin and his colleagues for a very informative Saturday afternoon.

 Up and coming events 2012

And in February/ March 2012 we look to the BBC Newscentre in W1 …. (Applications in January)

RTS London is accountable to is members – and we have an AGM on 20 March – we are looking particularly for Members working in the production areas of television to serve on the committee - contact Hon sec.

After the formal business we will have an a informal panel with leading creatives looking at how they see the world of television – with Google, Facebook, you tube, Two screens, Connected TV and all the others things that can take eye time of the viewers. We will have those who make compelling content now – how are they looking at the future –and where are the revenues?.

After last year’s members visit to BBC R&D we had a very lively discussion on the future technology needs for production (as well as delivery so in May 2012 we have an informal event planned where the views of some of the leading technologists expand on these topics incorporating some ideas from university research.

Both of these events are focused on the world of television as it applies to those who are very dedicated  to  Televsion and its continuation though time of changes.

And in June we will have something of a summer flavour about it – and yet another opportunity where members and the partners can enjoy a visit and lectures/discussion with a major worldwide broadcaster.
