Golden Balls - Football on the Box
Thursday the 6th of October 2005. Scottish Television's iconic Scotsport is almost 50 years old! The show was launched on September the 18th 1957 at 10:30pm; a fortnight after Scottish Television came on air. The stv Flagship programme has gained the title for the longest running sports show in the world. However, today football on the box is no longer just about results and high lights; it has evolved into the new light entertainment, drama and soap opera all rolled into one.
At this RTS Scotland Centre event held on the 2nd December 2009, Bobby Hain, STV's Director of Broadcast Services and Regulatory Affairs explained the thinking behind the company's strategy and discuss the issues surrounding this hotly debated development in Scottish broadcasting.
