2011 was the year of ‘structured reality’. The Only Way Is Essex ‘vajazzled’ its way to a Bafta, while the cast of Made in Chelsea let us peer into a fascinating world of money, sex and power. Both are now firm fixtures in the TV schedules.
Yet only two years ago barely anybody in the UK knew – or cared about – the genre. So what began its inexorable rise to success? And how difficult was it to pitch, create and consolidate an entirely new type of programme?
Host Mark Dolan will find out by quizzing an all-star panel, which includes Sarah Dillistone (Executive Producer, MIC), Claire Faragher (Executive Producer, TOWIE, series 2), Daran Little (Story Supervisor, MIC), Amy Childs (TOWIE), Spencer Matthews (MIC) and Lydia Rose Bright (TOWIE).
Together, stars and producers will talk through the evolution of both of these key shows, from initial idea to production process, revealing trade secrets, fascinating tips and exclusive insider information along the way.
Then, at the end of the session, two lucky audience members will have their own lives ’TOWIE-fied’ by our panel.
