The new trailer for Patrick Melrose - Pleased To Meet You introduces Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as the troubled, upper-class eponymous protagonist in the new five-part series.

The drama comedy series Sherlock actor play a "narcissistic, schizoid, suicidal, alcoholic" who is troubled by his abusive childhood and addictions.

Patrick Melrose - Pleased To Meet You is based on the semi-autobiographical novels by Edward St Aubyn, adapted for Sky Atlantic by David Nicholls (One Day).

Each episode of the series focuses on a different novel and explores different stages of Melrose's life; from 1960s France to present day Britain.

The first episode sees the protagonist go on a 24 hour drug binge in 1980s New York after collecting his abusive father's ashes. The five-part series shows his extraordinary journey through abuse, addiction, and his ultimate recovery.

Cumberbatch, who is also an executive producer on the series, will be joined by Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife), Holliday Grainger (Strike), Anna Madeley (The Crown), Prasanna Puwanarajah (Doctor Foster), Blythe Danner (Meet the Fockers) and Allison Williams (Girls) in an all-star cast.

The series will be available on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV later this year.
