The Frankenstein Chronicles, a terrifying adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein starring Sean Bean has begun filming its second season for ITV Encore.

The Frankenstein Chronicles is a detective series set in 1830s London, where Inspector John Marlott investigates crimes that may have been committed by a scientist attempting to bring back the dead.

The first series saw him investigating a mutilated body washed up on the Thames, first thinking it was the body of a dead child. On further examination of the dead body he discovers it's not a child but an assembly of body parts arranged in parody of the human form.

Sean Bean (Game of Thrones) returns as Marlott in the second series, who is no longer a mere mortal. He plans to seek revenge on Lord Daniel Hervey for taking his life away from him, after being wrongly accused and hanged for murder.

Marlott acts as defender for the poor, as he fights to clear his name and bring Hervey to justice.

Other cast members joining Bean in the new series is Maeve Dermody (SS-GB), Richie Campbell (Waterloo Road) and Robbie Gee (Snatch).
