RTS East Anglia Awards 1994

Awards 1994 was celebrated at a gala dinner at the Dunston Hall Hotel, Norwich on Saturday 14th October 1994. Awards 1994 is the first Awards event organised by the RTS East Anglia Centre to recognise talent and excellence in the region's TV industry. Awards 1994 was hosted by Barry Norman and Richard Swallow of Anglia Television who is also Vice Chairman of the RTS East Anglia Centre.

The winner of the premiere award of the evening was Alan Neale, for his recent work with Anglia Television and his long career with the BBC both regionally and on national programmes such as the News and Panorama. He was lighting cameraman on the BBC's Cats series.

The RTS East Anglia Centre Special Lifetime Achievement Award

A special Lifetime Achievement Award went to Philip Garner, who retired earlier this year as Managing Director (Broadcasting) Anglia Television. He joined Anglia in 1962 and one year later became editor of About Anglia at the age of 23. Philip's later career as a senior figure in ITV was reflected by video tributes from Greg Dyke (formerly Chief executive of LWT) and David Elstein (Director of Programmes at British Sky Broadcasting).
