Taskmaster has confirmed the contestants for its 17th series in a tweet and trailer.

Prepare once again for your dad’s favourite comedian to become your favourite comedian. This time round, Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9) will step up to the plate, alongside Sophie Willan (Alma's Not Normal) and Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso). Joining them are John Robins (Live at the Apollo) and Joanne McNally (Republic of Telly).

The five of them will need to use every bit of intelligence and counterintuitive thinking they have to get through increasingly surreal challenges. Returning to judge and raise an eyebrow are Greg Davies (Man Up) and Alex Horne (8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown). The trailer boasts projectiles, crash mats, wild swimming and a wall covered in yellow washing up gloves. Naturally.

As in previous series, the show combines both familiar faces and new voices of British comedy. Steve Pemberton is best known for fiercely defending “a local shop for local people” in The League of Gentleman. John Robins is known for his collaboration with Elis James (Fantasy Football League), and his stand-up.

Before working in TV, Sophie Willan founded Egg Collective, a Manchester-based performer collective. Joanne McNally has had appearances across Irish TV, while Nick Mohammed is known for roles in Stath Lets Flats, Uncle and Sorry, I’ve Got No Head.

The new series begins on Thursday 28th March at 9.00pm on Channel 4.
