Netflix has revealed the new and returning cast joining Jenna Ortega for the second series of Wednesday.

The Addams family spin-off focuses on the eponymous youngest sibling and her stay at Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for outcasts.

Series one saw Wednesday, played by Scream’s Jenna Ortega, figuring out the mystery of a monster killing and terrorising the school; as well as getting trapped in a love triangle with a local barista and a psychic.

Wednesday’s pet sentient hand ‘Thing’ (played by hand actor Victor Dorobantu) took centre stage for the cast announcement, trailing down a gothic hotel corridor flicking scripts at the rooms of the cast. The YouTube video confirmed that the entire Addams family will be returning, with Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) as Morticia, Luis Guzmán (Punch-Drunk Love) as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez (A Wrinkle in Time) as Pugsley and Fred Armisen (Portlandia) as Uncle Fester.

Percy Hynes White was notably absent from the cast announcement. Having played Xavier, a main character and one of Wednesday’s love interests in series one, Hynes White’s absence comes after Ortega stepped up as producer and said she would be focusing more on horror elements rather than teen romance for series two.

Other returning cast include Emma Myers (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) as Wednesday’s polar opposite roommate Enid, Hunter Doohan (Your Honour) as recently imprisoned barista Tyler, and Joy Sunday (Shithouse), Georgie Farmer (The Evermoor Chronicles), and Moosa Mostafa (Nativity Rocks!) as Wednesday’s fellow Nevermore students, Bianca, Ajax and Eugene.

Joining the cast for series two are Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie), Christopher Lloyd (The Addams Family’s original Uncle Fester), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Haley Joel Osment (Forrest Gump), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries), Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones), Frances O'Connor (Bedazzled), and Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars). Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs) will play the new head teacher, taking over from Gwendoline Christie’s (Game of Thrones) Principal Weems.

Wednesday series two has begun filming in Ireland and will be released on Netflix in 2025.
