BBC One and FX series Taboo will be back for a second series

Created by Steven Knight with Tom Hardy and Chips Hardy, Taboo has been recommissioned for another series. 

The series launched in a Saturday night slot on BBC One and has since been one of the most successful dramas on BBC iPlayer. 

Taboo follows James Delaney (Tom Hardy), who is at first believed to be dead, but returns to 1814 London to inherit his late father's shipping empire which turns out to be more valuable than first thought. 

BBC One announces brand-new thriller McMafia

With his family living in exile in London, Alex Goodman - played by James Norton (Happy Valley, War and Peace) - is forced to confront all values that he holds dear.

He is the English-raised son of Russian exiles with a mafia history, and as a result has spent his life trying to escape the shadows of that criminal past, creating his own business and enjoying life with his girlfriend.

What starts out as a tale of survival becomes a murderous story of his constant struggle against the lures of corruption in the modern world.

Jim Sturgess and Agyness Deyn to star in new drama from Luther creator

Jim Sturgess (One Day) and Agyness Deyn (Clash of the Titans) will star in the pre-apocalyptic drama from Luther creator Neil Cross.

The six-part series follows detectives Elaine Renko and Robert Hinks as they attempt to keep order and protect their families as the apocalypse approaches.

They must work together if they are to survive the end of the world, however the two detectives could not be more different: one is kind, gentle and corrupt, the other damaged, difficult and incorruptible.

This documentary celebrates one of Britain’s best-loved actors Dame Judi Dench, by looking back over her remarkable 60-year career.

Narrated by Colin Salmon, with contributors including Daniel Craig, Ann Mitchell, Sam Mendes and Sir Ian McKellan, the film reveals why Judi Dench has become the ‘second most popular woman in Britain’.

BBC announce Pitch Perfect-inspired singing battle show

Pitch Battle (working title) will pit some of the nation’s best choirs against each other in a range of choral challenges. These include Pitch Perfect inspired ‘Riff Offs’, a soloists challenge and an a capella round.

Competing choirs will be drawn from a range of musical styles: including pop, rock, folk, gospel and even fishermen’s choirs.
