The winners of the 2016 Royal Television Society Student Television Awards were announced today in a glittering ceremony at the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank

The awards recognise outstanding work produced by undergraduate and postgraduate students during the 2014/15 academic year.

Comedian Mark Dolan hosted the event which welcomed over 250 students from around the country.

The Student Television Awards 2016 were chaired by Sky Arts Director Phil Edgar-Jones and celebrate the best in student television.

The Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards are judged in six categories – Animation, Comedy & Entertainment, Drama, Factual, News and Open.

Additionally, excellence in craft skills is also recognised, with Undergraduate and Postgraduate Awards for Camerawork, Editing and Sound.

Students from higher education institutions across England, Wales and Northern Ireland picked up awards at the event.

The Undergraduate nominees were first judged at a regional level by their local RTS centre, with the winning films from each Centre then being judged nationally in early 2016.

Postgraduate entries qualify automatically for national assessment.
