Select Sessions: Broadcast Engineering 

Select Sessions are a series of online employability training sessions for students studying on ScreenSkills Select endorsed courses. They provide you with professional advice on a range of topics direct from industry and focus on supporting you to gain the best opportunity for a successful career in the screen industries.  

ScreenSkills has a series of e-learning modules on Getting into the screen industries which are a prerequisite for attending any Select Session event.

Who it's for
This online session is for ScreenSkills Select/RTS Scotland students interested in careers in film & TV.

 

What it covers
Join us for this ScreenSkills Select industry insight webinar in partnership with RTS Scotland where an expert panel will take a deep dive in to Broadcast Engineering department.

Hear how the doors opened for individuals and learn about the roles they work in from Trainee Systems Engineer to Junior Technical and Production Engineer to Outside Broadcast (OB) Engineer.

The panel for this event is made up of crew at various levels in Broadcast Engineering, all with insight and knowledge about how to bring TV shows to life, how to realise a director’s vision and how to work together as a broadcast engineering team.    

The webinar will be facilitated by Lee Davison, Associate Head of Film and Media at Solent University Southampton and Course Leader for BSc (Hons) Live Event Technology course.

Gareth Gordon - Chief Technology Officer (QTV)

Jonas Kröger-Mayes - Junior Systems Engineer (BBC Scotland)

Morag McIntosh - Solution Lead – Studio Automation, BBC Technology (BBC News, BBC Events, Proms, Glastonbury, Royal Opera House). Morag won the Technical Operations Award at the recent Rise Awards 2023
