Channel 4, BBC and NFTS to launch new freelancer support programme

In partnership with the National Film and Television School, the programme will provide free masterclasses, workshops, training and wellbeing sessions across two weeks in October 2023.

The sessions will be delivered online to ensure it is accessible to all freelancers across the country, and will explore topics as varied as financial planning, networking and development.

Sinead Rocks, Managing Director of Nations and Regions at Channel 4, said: “The TV production sector is facing unprecedented challenges and we know that many freelancers are struggling.

Alex Mahon talks privatisation and the future of Channel 4

Session chair Amol Rajan: Did you interpret the new culture secretary saying that she is re-examining the business case for privatisation as implying that she and Prime Minister Liz Truss are not as committed to privatisation as their predecessors? 

Alex Mahon: We’re in discussion with the DCMS about where they want to end up and what the options are. I imagine they’ll look at the things that I like: facts, data and evidence. Then we’ll see what the coming weeks and months hold as they think about that. 

Channel 4 commissions new coming-of-age series Dance School

Told through the eyes of the core friendship group and dance crew - Puppy, Kobby, Liam, Tim, Francesca, Tash and Nohail - Dance School captures their joyful, funny, raw and truthful stories. Heading up the LAH dance school is Jackie, a dynamic, determined, tough but passionate teacher who brings the group together.
