Impressions of Fame will take a comic look at the lives of celebrities on and off the screen, as Robinson couples new impressions of Joanna Lumley, Gregg Walace and Miranda Hart, along with the acts she has become known for such as Eastenders actors Danny Dyer and Natalie Cassidy.

Robinson, who previously demonstrated her skills in Channel 4's The Morgana Show, will be joined by ‘big name’ actors, comedians and guest stars who will play the friends and colleagues of celebrities.

TV sound engineers are used to keeping a low profile. Only if something goes amiss do the people responsible for the sound emerge from the shadows. Paradoxically, minus the sound track a TV show would be unwatchable.  

This point was made by the two veterans delivering an RTS Craft Skills Masterclass on sound, Chris Ashworth, Production Sound Mixer, and Mike Felton, Sound Designer.

“You only get shouted at when things go wrong,” Felton observed. “Sound is a masochist’s job. Basically you do it for your own satisfaction.”

RTS Wales joined the Institute of Welsh Affairs to host a lively debate on the future of Welsh broadcasting at Glyndŵr University in Wrexham at the end of October.

The RTS Centre’s administrator, Hywel Wiliam, gave a brief overview of the key features of the current communications market.

Four sporting giants will leave the world of athletics, rugby and super biking to compete in some the most demanding traditional sports in the world.

Former Wales rugby captain Gareth Thomas, World Champion sprinter Iwan Thomas, Superbike world champion James Toseland and Canadian 100-metre gold medallist Donovan Bailey will travel the globe testing their physical prowess.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts star in sorority slasher flick Scream Queens, a modern take on a whodunit, where anyone could be the murderer, or the next victim.

Filming begins in Birmingham this week for series three of post-war gangster drama, Peaky Blinders.

Three more actors are to join the BBC cast. 

They are Pride’s Paddy Considine, Last Resort’s Dina Korzun and Cordon’s Jan Bijovet.

BBC Two sitcom Boy Meets Girl will be the first UK programme to show a transgender person in a lead role.

It is a conventional love story where transgender actress Rebecca Root who plays Judy, a transgender woman, falls in love with Leo, played by Harry Hepple. 

Together the couple battle any prejudice against their relationship.

When Kim Shillinglaw became Controller of BBC Two last year, one of her predecessors took her for a drink. Roly Keating had launched BBC Four, moved on to BBC Two and filled in as temporary boss of BBC One. In a meeting room in New Broadcasting House, Shillinglaw recalls with terrible clarity what he told her.

“He said, ‘You will find BBC Two is the toughest. Let me tell you that now. BBC Four has a lot of individual commissions but not very much money, so there’s a limit to how many things it can commission.

A trailblazing four-part documentary series on the history of women will air on BBC Two this autumn.

Charting the role of women in society over 10,000 years, The Ascent Of Woman is the first ever documentary to explore the history of women from the birth of civilisation to the contemporary era.

Focusing on the themes of freedom, oppression, inclusion and exclusion, the series aims to study the status of women and women’s rights.

The series is written and presented by Dr Amanda Foreman, the author of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire.
