At face value, Eric is another cop show, albeit one that features a giant walking puppet. But from the pen of RTS Fellow Abi Morgan – whose award-winning dramas include The Iron Lady, Sex Traffic and The Hour – the six-part Netflix series, which revolves around a missing child, is something entirely different, taking in addiction, childhood trauma, homelessness, Aids, homophobia and racism.

The SAG actors were still on strike as the awards season kicked in, throwing up a dilemma for the promoters of TV and film and press junket organisers. Those behind the camera were invited in. Screenwriters, costume designers, composers, make-up artists and production designers were rolled out for the film Q&As, and it proved exhilarating. It is a reminder that it takes a village to raise a great movie.

The Fellowships were presented last night during the RTS Patron Dinner at One Great George Street in London.
