With a range of organisations from the region attending – including BBC South West, Rock Oyster Media and Ocean City Media – students were able to find out about production from those in the know.
Mike Baker, Associate Dean at Plymouth Marjon University, said: “For students in the south west, we know that there aren’t necessarily that many huge employers, so it’s important for them to get to know the ones that are here.
With more than 100 soon-to-be graduates in attendance, it gave them a chance to speak to employers and industry experts as they consider the transition from education to the workplace.
Fittingly for a venue that has just seen its club survive in the Championship with a last-day win over Hull City, the event was compered by Match of the Day commentator and RTS Devon and Cornwall committee member, John Roder.

Love Island star and social media influencer Laura Crane hosted the ceremony, which was held at the Jill Craigie Cinema, University of Plymouth, in late March. Crane, who is also a champion surfer, talked to the students about her life in the media. “People sometimes forget about us down here, but don’t! There are honestly so many incredible films. It’s mad to think that these people are just starting out,” she said.
Series producer Sam Smith represented the BBC, while Kate Haskell and Sam Blackledge spoke for ITV Westcountry and Dan Willers came from the animation studio, Yellow Mouse.
